Why invest in solar today

Investing in solar will help you save money and help protect you from future increases in energy costs. With the current incentives, investing in solar allows working Vermonters to put some of their hard earned tax dollars back into their own pockets. These incentives can help provide significant returns on the investment in your home and or business. Along with the ability to qualify for a 26% federal tax credit, Vermont utilities currently pay more for each kilowatt hour generated than what the customer pays for each kilowatt hour consumed.  The cost of solar has decreased significantly in recent years due to a reduction in material prices and market competition.  In addition there are great financing options offered specifically for solar. As more solar is introduced to the grid, the incentives will slowly be reduced. Investing in solar while it is economical will help control your future energy costs and protect you from any increases.

What is Net-metering

Net-metering is a method for connecting solar generation to the the electric grid through your current utility meter. When you produce more than you are consuming, you will accumulate credits that will be applied to your bill at other times of the day or year.  Typically in Vermont, the customer will accumulate credits throughout the longer summer days and slowly consume them throughout the shorter winter days. The credits can be carried forward for up to one year. Vermont utilities currently pay a premium for generated electricity through the net metering program.
